Hiya all,

It was just another day at office and i was working with the dumb goole app engine and python. Struggling to push 40,529 records into google’s datastore through a CSV file was quite a challenging job. The CPU was getting timed out, because google would allow you to push only 10 records at a time. I was deep down in this script, suddenly my Sr. Project Manager IM me that i have to take an interview for PHP. I was amazed and at the same time was feeling good that this is going to be my life’s first interview when i wont be sitting on the panic chair :d

I went to my Boss’s cabin with the same tension as that candidate might be having. Basically it was a telephonic interview so not much stress. But still it was my life’s first interview and i was kinda out of touch from php since last 2-3 months. So i started with the questions, from basics and the candidate was really well in answering them with due respect to me :p

I was getting little bit comfortable, and i felt really good in juding his questions and mindset. Finally i came to my outta box questions and the real things which are prevailing in Open Source market these days, and he started kneeling down, when we start talking about maintaing bigger applications and consistency of the objects and some more of deeper technical stuff.

He had an experience of 1 year, but still i had a doubt because the way he was responding to things wasn’t that professional. So finally the interview was over and in my boss rejected him giving the negative feedback on the same call.

He was depressed and with very low tone he said thanks to us. I would like to share here is, that other than domain knowledge one must have general knowledge about the happenings in the market. Its not about which processor got launched or which company took over the other. Its about different APIs, new techniques. Because things are the same, it may be a simple website but there are n number of ways to develop that, if PHP gives you simples way to create a website then Ruby on Rails gives you more proper MVC like framework to create the same website.

So best of luck to you guys, stay beautiful !!

Cheers !!

Realin !

hiya guys,

I have been writing for a while about career, job, job satisfaction etc. because now that i am in job i can feel the various UPs & Downs in it. One of my friend today got selected for Indian Air Force (IAF) and ofcourse one should be happy for him and I am. But as per he told me that few of our friends are happy but its a fake happiness. But why do we have this hatred feeling for all ? Didn't we choose our life at our own. The field, the technology we are working on is chosen by our own wish, so why feel envy just cause he is into IAF.

I did not apply for IAF cause i am not interested in serving government, cause our indian govt. wont let you grow instead will teach you how to make your life luxurious using the extra income(bribe). Well no further comments on it :D

Didn’t we choose our life at our own. The field, the technology we are working on is chosen by our own wish, so why feel envy just cause he is into IAF.

I did not apply for IAF cause i am not interested in serving government, cause our indian govt. wont let you grow instead will teach you how to make your life luxurious using the extra income(bribe). Well no further comments on it

So when we chose our field, our life’s goal then why feel bad on someone’s success. This is the worst feeling that one can have .. We should prepare our goal, should be moving on it every second of life. We cannot be a software developer working for a MNC and side by side a government servant, cause these two are two different fields just like Linux & Microsoft.

Apparently, everyone can see it, but still we have a hatred feeling. Well i am happy for my friend and wish him luck. There are some points for that i never liked government services.

1) You dont get to do what you always wanted to do, and when you get time you are too old for what you wanted to do.
2) Services like Army, airforce, navy etc make u over-disciplined and literally you are hated by our grand children for that.
3) You may not be able to fulfill your all dreams within government service ( limited income ).
4) In the end you are working under a BOSS who always wants everything to be done in more than perfect way.
5) You can’t put in your own creativity, you have to work under certain protocols.
6) No family life when you are in training, or in starting 5 years of service

Other than this we have many good things associated with the government jobs, and I am sure my friend from IAF, will list that for us (very soon).

Don’t forget to share your views, this will let us all know the term we learnt JOB SATISFACTION

cheers !!

It was a great day when i got into JOB, it feels like i have been gifted for all my efforts. My life's First JOB, its kinda most awaited feeling in everyone's life. It comes over the time when you are done with your graduation , but to me it came 6months earlier, during my professional training. hehehhe .. Isn't it good, eh ?

The things we studied, the things we jotted up in the exam just to clear that paper actually exist .. yeah they do !!

And we used to curse our university for teaching us management subjects during our technical education. Trust me guys, a complete engineer is the one, who is equipped with all the tools from management to technical know-hows. In the market when you gotta face a cut-throat competition, you really have to be different from the same pattern engineers which only know about classes, objects, etc etc.

I am the lucky chap to get into a company where i am actually made to work and is not allowed to sit idle, like in other companies. I am involved in every action/updates of the projects i am assigned to. I had 1-2 years of PHP experience which help me land into this company and let me get involved into 2 Live Projects, where in the client needs update after a week or so.

The deadlines, presentation, completeness, perfectionism these words really matter now. Just 20 days and the company CEO knows that there is a trainee “Sachin” working on the projects. Isn’t that an achievement ?

Guys, trust me .. getting into a company is not a big deal, the deal is when you are actually recognized for your efforts and appreciated for the output.

Please do share your experiences and comments !!

cheers !!
